Hello, and welcome to ukholidayswapshop.

Let's introduce ourselves.... We are Jackie and Dave and we live in a very beautiful but quiet part of North Wales. We love exploring our own country and, because we live by the sea, we prefer to enjoy cultural breaks in the city or go walking in the countryside when we go away.

During our travels we have met many people who envy us where we live, as we envy them! We are all agreed, however, that the cost of holidaying within the UK, particularly accomodation and eating out, has risen dramatically in recent years, and that this is the main reason why people don't take time out to visit their own country. Especially now, when we are living in the Age of Austerity!

In 2008 we had our 'light-bulb' moment and set about creating a solely UK based swapping forum. You are correct in thinking that the idea of swapping homes for the purpose of a holiday is not new. There are many websites out there already specialising in holiday exchanges - but these operate on an international basis; and most of the people from the UK who register on them are primarily interested in going abroad, not staying at home!

We set up ukholidayswapshop to give people from all parts of Britain the opportunity to take regular, affordable holiday breaks in their own country. We want you to be able to explore all that the UK has to offer. We really like the fact that our members are happy to open their homes to each other, free of charge, so that everyone can enjoy a holiday; our website is all about caring and sharing and we love being part of it!
