We live in a 4 bedroom stone detached house on a quiet lane in Grindleton, 3 miles from Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley. Grindleton is a mainly stone village with 2 pubs serving good food. As well as being fantastic walking and cycling country, the hills and valleys of the area are famous for their food pubs and restaurants, promoted by the local tourist board and all within a few miles of our house. We are within the Forest of Bowland, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The area gets lots of visitors because of the beauty of the countryside and villages but it is never really busy.
We have a lovely house, nicely decorated and furnished, all within the last few years in a modern style but still very warm and comfortable. It has oak floors downstairs, a huge lounge (about 25ft x 20ft overall) with garden access via sliding picture windows. The garden has a great new patio with table and chairs, slightly elevated with views over the village to Pendle Hill. There is a also sitting room/study, dining kitchen and utility. We have Sky Plus and a good Hi-fi with telly-linked speakers. Upstairs are 4 comfy beds – all doubles, one to a room, no twins. There is a very modern house bathroom and en suite shower to the master bedroom. There is parking for at least 3 cars on the drive.
Clitheroe is five minutes away through lovely countryside and is one of the nicest towns in Lancashire. It has mainly independent shops (plus Tesco and Sainburys of course) and a multi million pound music and arts venue. Skipton is only 20 minutes away and very popular with visitors. Also within easy reach are the Yorkshire Dales (20 mins) Lake District (1 hour) Manchester (45 mins) Haworth Bronte Parsonage (40 mins) Blackpool (40 mins) etc. etc.
