Our pleasant home is a comfortable, Victorian semi-detached house conveniently located in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, 3 miles south of the vibrant city centre of Manchester with its shops, galleries, orchestras, china town, restaurants and bars. The house is on 3 floors and sleeps 7 + in 5 bedrooms- 2 doubles (1 with its own toilet/dressing room) and 3 singles. (There is also an extra double futon bed in 1 of the single rooms if this is more convenient) There is a separate office, family bathroom with bath and separate shower and an extra separate toilet. Downstairs there is a large modern dining kitchen with a small conservatory attached, 2 large comfortable living rooms, utility room/toilet and cellars. Outside, there are walled gardens to front and rear- the rear garden is completely enclosed and there is a selection of garden furniture.
There is a TV with cable access, computer, printer, broadband, x-box, Wii, books, DVDs, CDs and an old piano. There are 5 adult sized bikes and a selection of tennis raquets which we use at the local parks.
We also have lots of camping equipment including different sizes of tents, cooking equipment, electric hook up and lighting.
Chorlton is a busy, family-orientated area of South Manchester with a village feel. We are very close to Chorlton Green and its family friendly restaurant/pub. There are churches, cafes, parks, bars, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, independent shops and an award winning deli and a grocer (The Barbakaan and The Unicorn). There is an indoor adventure playground with a lovely family friendly cafe attached, where you can have coffee and watch the children play. Chorlton is well served by buses -the Manchester Metro-link tram station is at Stretford and we are close to the motorway network. There are local walks and cycle routes through Chorlton meadows to the river Mersey. There are also water sports/sailing at Chorlton water park and Sale water park.
We are close to Manchester city centre, world class football at Manchester United Football Club with its shop and museum, Old Trafford cricket ground, home to Freddy Flintoff, the Chillfactore ski slope and fantastic shopping at the Trafford Centre. We are within easy reach of Haydock races, Alton Towers theme park and Blackpool or Southport Pleasure beach. An hour and a half away is The Lake District with its lovely countryside, hiking and sailing. The Peak District and its stately homes, including Chatsworth- ('Pemberley' in Keira Knightley's 'Pride and Prejudice') quaint villages and country pubs are 45 minutes by car. Yorkshire -home of the Brontes is accessible and we are within reach of Wales with its safe beaches and mountains of Snowdonia. Liverpool is 45 minutes away -where you could visit the Beatles museum or John Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood homes or cross the Mersey on the famous ferry! Roman Chester is also well worth a visit with its wonderful river and racecourse. There are many nearby National Trust properties in the region. Our closest are Dunham Massey, Tatton Park and Lyme Hall ('Pemberley' in the 1995 BBC production of 'Pride and Prejudice' with Colin Firth) are all well worth a visit.
