Deal is a very pleasant, fairly small but bustling unspoilt coastal town situated 8 miles from Dover (with its castle and easy access
to France - day trips very easy). Apart from an excellent golf course outside Deal which is internationally famous, attractions include Canterbury (30 minutes) with its cathedral etc, Sandwich (an attractive medieval town, 10 minutes),Broadstairs, Folkestone, Ramsgate etc. There is lots of excellent coastal walking including the white cliffs of Dover, Reculver (an atmospheric old church on the coast) also the North Downs way (from Dover) and we love Blean woods (Canterbury). Deal itself has two Henry 8th built castles.
We live only 10 minutes walk from the seafront with its pier and brand new end of pier cafe! The sea is good for swimming (cold of course!) - the beach is shingle, for sand go to Folkesone or Ramsgate. We are 10 mins walk from town centre and good shops, including supermarket (Sainsbury), also railway station -shortly to be on high speed line to London, about 90 minutes. There is a pizza and chinese take-away in our road, and a good convenience store. We are 5 mins walk (less!)from a very good leisure centre (called "Tides") which has indoor heated family swimming pool, gym and brand new indoor tennis courts etc
We live in an end of terrace house, very much a family home but clean, cheerful and suitable for up to 5 people - there are two "largish" bedrooms, one room with a double bed, one room with two single beds, and a further small bedroom with one bed. Our neighbours are quiet and friendly, so visitors won't be disturbed.
