This was a Victorian Stone Masons, three storey terraced cottage and is very convient for the steam trains, beach and town in general, while also handy for lovely walks along the coastal path and Durlston Country Park. (Ten minute walk to the beach but less to the shops, trains, bus station and many resturants). The second floor has a large double bedroom, the first floor has a twin bedded room, with large waredrobe, and a 'through' room with comfortable bed settee. The bathroom is ground floor with a proper shower over the bath. There is a kitchen diner, in Victorian style, and a living room. The cottage has views over the town, the sea, to Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight, as well as the downs. It is double glazed and centrally heated to make it cosy. It has an open plan stairs to the first floor meaning it is not ideal for very young children. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave, coffee machine, etc and table to eat at. There is a new flat screen Freeview TV, DVD player, radio, games, loads of books, garden furniture and a BBQ as well as buckets and spades. There is a sunny patio and tiny terraced garden to the rear and another patio to the front. A couple of the photos show the view from the cottage over the Downs and the headland and sea, the sea can be seen from all floors.
You don't need a car once you arrive but there is street parking in quiet residential roads round the cottage, which has no road frontage.
Swanage is an Historically interesting town with some lovely buildings, it has a small theatre/cinema and the town is renowned for it's live music most weekends, even out of season. You can walk to every entertainment on offer from this cottage. Bus Station, with taxi rank, 5 minutes walk, beach under 10 minutes. The Tourist Information Centre is opposite the award winning sandy beach on the sea front. In the summer there is a Punch and Judy show on the sand. There is the opportunity for many water sports and the cliffs are used for climbing and hang gliding from. The Coastal Path runs through the park and the many footpaths behind the cottage access it. The whole coast from Studland to North Devon has recently been designated one of only two, natural, World Heritage Sites in the UK and is considered an area of outstanding natural beauty. During the season boat trips can be taken to the Isle of Wight, Bournemouth, (great for shopping) Poole, Brownsea Island or just round the bay. Swanage is a leading centre for diving. Swanage Steam Railway, which can be glimpsed from the windows of the cottage, runs to Corfe Castle. Lulworth Cove and the pretty deserted village of Tyneham, Monkey World, Corfe minature village, The Tank Museum, Arne RSPB site and many other attractions are only a short drive.
