Small detached cottage built in 1850: new bathroom, refurbished kitchen/diner, living room, one double and one twin bedroom all fully re-decorated internally. Gas central heating, gas cooker, fridge, microwave and new washing machine with tumble drier. French windows lead to a small private courtyard, which traps the sun. The courtyard is flagged in local slate with raised beds. BBQ and outdoor furniture available.
The cottage is not suitable for pets, small children, disabled people or smokers. Sorry.
The Cottage is located in the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), on a quiet lane in a non-tourist, ex-mining village. It’s close to Tavistock (10 minutes, across the River Tamar, in Devon) a lovely market town on the edge of Dartmoor National Park which offers wonderful walking; 40 minutes from Looe or Polperro on the coast or an hour from the Eden Project. There are lots of local walks from the cottage door: Calstock and Cothele House (National Trust) on the river or Kit Hill for a fantastic 360 degree viewpoint. The A390 passes through the lower part of the village and there is a rail link to Plymouth (and Paddington) just 10 minutes walk up the hill. There are excellent local pubs and restaurants nearby.
