A large detached family house located in the village of Great Urswick, just 2 miles from the sea and 30 minutes easy drive from Lake Coniston. The house enjoys a superb position next to a tarn with private lake frontage. It comprises 4 bedrooms, a double with ensuite and a cot, double and cot, twin and a single. In addition there is a double sofa bed in the downstairs lounge. The house will therefore comfortably sleep 9 and two babies. There is a family bathroom on the first floor and a shower,w.c., and sauna on the ground floor.
Living rooms are spacious, on the ground floor is a large dining kitchen and a separate lounge with patio doors. On the first floor is the main lounge with superb views over the garden and tarn. Both lounges have open fires.
The south facing garden is some 60 metres in length and has something for all the family. The top patio area comprises of a flat patio area and lawn it is fenced and gated and ideal for toddlers. The lower area comprises a long flat lawn with large trampoline, swings and a wendy house. At the bottom is a gate leading to the tarn where our rowing boat and canadian canoe are located(life jackets are available for use). Fishing is also possible subject to obtaining a permit from the local pubs . Adjoining the house is a barn in which are bikes( 2 adult , 3 children and a tag along), and coal and logs for the fires. Generally the house is child friendly with use of an all terrain buggy, 2 cots, high chairs, fire guard, safety gate and lots of toys.
We have 2 stables (no paddock) if you wish to bring a horse !
The village has 2 pubs within a short walking distance, one serving bar meals.It is 3 miles from the lovely market town of Ulverston which has plenty of shops and character pubs and places to eat, a cinema, swimming pool, large indoor tennis courts and a twice weekly market.
Things to do nearby- Bardsea beach - 2 miles, South Lakes Wild Animal Park- 3 miles, Laurel and Hardy museum- 3 miles, Barrow Dock museum- 8 miles, Holker Hall 13 miles, Furness Abbey- 5 miles. Further afield- within easy drive of Lake Coniston, Bowness on Windermere, and the Grizedale Forest.There are also plenty of good bike rides and walks from the house!
