We have a rural idyl betwixt the Penines and the Lake District mountains,a place known as Eden, and it is !!! Our home is a 17 th Century Farm house, with four bedrooms and two sitting rooms. It is surounded by open countryside, with its own fifteen acres of wood and grassland, gardens and vegetable plots.
We are a family of five ,with a grown daughter of 23 ,a boy of ten and an eight year old girl.we have wonderful handpicked neighbours, who will be on hand if need be!
The beautiful valley of Eden boasts fantastic scenary, and everything for the outdoor enthusiast, from walking to climbing...canoeing to parascending .The market towns of Penrith Appleby ,Keswick and Kendal are all within a half hours drive from us , while Hadrians wall runs 50 minutes north of us accross the country
Accomodation and Facilities; Our home has three double bedrooms, the fourth being equally large but dominated with lego etc.! The fith single room houses an impressive collection of "Silvanians" and a cabin bed.
There are two toilets upstairs on with shower and small basin, the other with bath and larger basin(recently refurbished)
The original staircase leads down into the kitchen /living room area .This room has a large open fireplace with woodburning stove,The kitchen has a washer(the dryer is the dutch barn )and induction oven, microwave and if wanted flat screen t.v.There is a pantry door leading into food and drink store(we enjoy making our own brews particularly cider and elderflower champagne! ) Through way leads into the garden or turning left into our recreationroom(or party barn!)again we find more boys toys... a scalextric track and huge screen predominantly used to watch formula one.
The garden is walled and gated and is developing it s borders.....Predominantly grass and fruit trees, with an effective raised fire pit and stairs leading onto a patio to gain the last rays of evening sun. There is another area of garden that houses pollytunnels and vegetables, fruits and woodland...Brilliant for older children...as is the 20 ft trampolene and treehouseswith scramble net between,Oh and we have a barn with slides and half pipe for those of you that may like to skate-board !!!
The yard is used for parking cars although there is a garage if you would prefer.
Back inside the house and there is a dining room with rustic table for bigger dinner parties, also heated with a woodburner. The fith bedroom adjoins this...making a seperate lounge bedroom area if you were needing some privacy.
Surrounds; Our home is a mile outside the picturesque village of Gt Strickland,a nice walk or few minutes cycle(we have plenty of bikes that can be borrowed)The pub / restaurant has a great menu and pulls a tasty pint....but there are numerous pubs and eateries within a ten minute drive to enjoy.Melkinthorpe with its famous Larch Cottage Nurseries is a beautiful hours walk through the fields,or three miles by road, while the next village east,Morland has a fine cafe and gardensto enjoy, only 3.5 miles by road.Continue past Morland and in 15 Minutes you'll arrive in the historic market town of Appleby, whilst Penrith is the same distance in the opposing direction..
Although were thinking of a holliday down south any where near the sea would be gratefully enjoyed,Do not hesitate to get in touch if there are any questions that you would like answering, Andri and Tom x
