Come and stay in our Victorian villa near the centre of St Albans, a historic market town within easy reach of London. Our semi-detached red-brick house is on a very friendly quiet road less than 10 minutes walk from both St Albans town centre and station. Take the non-stop train and you'll be in central London (St Pancras/Kings Cross) in just 20 minutes. The house sleeps 4 (1 large master double and 1 twin bedroom) but there's room for up to 3 more - please ask.
We find our house very relaxing with its choice of living spaces:
- superb dining room with a wall of doors that open out to the large deck (the dining table seats 6)
- large living room (with digital TV, stereo, DVD in the sofa area and separate games table)
- contemporary kitchen (range cooker, Smeg fridge, dishwasher)
- study (books and usual home for the computer - wireless broadband throughout the house)
We hope you’ll enjoy eating and playing in the large sunny garden. We welcome any help in our allotment garden, but this isn’t essential.
St Albans has a wide choice of shops and a great market every Saturday and Wednesday, with Sunday markets once a month too.
If you enjoy nature, we recommend walking from our house to the centre of St Albans along the river Ver to the parkland and lakes.
Children will enjoy the nature reserve at the end of our road, summer splash park in town and the wonderful Butterfly World on the edge of St Albans.
If you’re into history, don’t miss the cathedral, Roman mosaics, amphitheatre, museums, medieval Fishpool Street and the clock tower. Or go five miles east to Hatfield House, the stunning home of Queen Elizabeth I.
If you enjoy an active life, bring your bikes and tennis rackets or golf clubs, go swimming or visit the riding stables.
If pubs are your thing, there are dozens to choose from together with restaurants for all budgets and tastes.
